I am a Buddhist teacher, ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order, a ‘Western’ Buddhist order, which is neither monastic nor lay. I teach largely at the Manchester Buddhist Centre in the United Kingdom and internationally over the internet. My name means ‘Great Enlightenment,’ the term ‘Maha’ being related to the Mahayana, the ‘Great Way’ which aspires to help all living beings attain their full potential. Being a ‘populist’ I would love to teach meditation from the pyramid stage at Glastonbury and on mainstream American television. This year I am hoping to complete my 350 page book; Mindfulness; The Undiscovered Foundations, which brings together the central Buddhist teaching on mindfulness in the Satipatthana Sutta with the Buddhist doctrine of Conditionality.
