Insight and Perception

In this talk at Manchester Buddhist Centre, Mahabodhi explores the meaning of the Sanskrit term ‘samjna’ (Pali ‘sanna’). Often translated as ‘perception’ (but more accurately ‘apperception’) it performs a pivotal role in meditation practice. By bringing mindfulness to our samjna in the metta bhavana, the mindfulness of breathing and in insight practice we effect the required transformation of our view. Ground covered includes the dhyanas, views in general, Right View and unenlightened tendencies called asravas.
